When we arrived at our housing for language school, a group of high school students came to our door and asked if we would help them with English. They were a close group of Muslim friends and took us along with them regularly, including meals in their homes and celebrating neighborhood events and holidays. They wanted to learn about our culture too, and we shared life with them, including spaghetti and tacos. At Easter Jason’s parents sent us a package of Easter things complete with egg dye and plastic eggs filled with candy. Our friends jumped in and enjoyed the silliness with us. While dying eggs one gal asked the question we had been waiting for: “What’s with the eggs?” We shared the Gospel story with them and then continued on to the egg hunt. A few months later at our post, some high school gals who lived in our neighborhood asked for English lessons. They wanted to learn informally and didn’t seem interested in cooking so I wasn’t sure what we could do while we talked. They noticed the cross stitch I was working on sitting on the coffee table and asked if I could teach them to do that. An amazing woman at our church sent us some hand towels with space to cross stitch and we picked some simple patterns and got started. We had a wonderful time talking about anything and everything while we stitched until they left for college. Use whatever you have and the skills God has given you. I promise you have more to offer than you think!

1 Peter 3:15 But in your hearts Revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect.
