I was talking with my girls about character traits and school work, traits like wanting perfection can become too extreme and ruin a project. Or being a little too laid back when something needs to get done can also screw up a task. Then, per the usual when I am teaching my children, I was convicted about one of my character traits that can be too extreme, my love of efficiency and completing tasks. God is not efficient. He lavishes love on each of us as individuals, and loves to paint beautiful sunsets and sunrises just for joy, whether we take the time to appreciate them or not. He left the 99 sheep who were safe at the moment to go after the one who was straying. I need to become less efficient, treasuring individuals and moments right in front of me, instead of getting things done as quickly as possible being my highest priority all the time.

See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him.
1 John 3:1 NIV
