I did the 1 inch writing exercise from Anne Lamont, focusing on my bookcase in our garage. This space is our family commitment to rest. Only nondigital, peaceful things are allowed. Puzzles of various sizes for guests of various sizes. Craft books full of possibilities. Books of true adventures, mostly WW II. Manuals for tropical fish and field artillery. Books of created adventures in Narnia and Lord of the Rings, not true stories but that teach us true things. Books of comforting mother figures in Little Women, the Little House books and the Anne of Green Gables series. There is also an oil lamp, to make things even cozier and to remind us of the One who gives us rest. And last but not least is the toy Ecto-1, because why not? What part of your world is most restful?
