I can now laugh about trash burgers, but it took a while! I got bored with my usual recipes and asked my family to help me come up with new meals for my weekly meal planning. Sometimes they get annoyed by this question because they don’t seem to need variety, but sometimes they help. This time Jason remembered a meal from his childhood, pizza burgers. He told me all I needed was hamburger buns, ground beef, and pizza sauce. I added these to the grocery list and was ready to try it a few days later. I picked a night when he was busy, though, and he was annoyed by me needing to know how to finish the “burgers.” So I thought he meant that I only used the bottoms of the burgers, and I threw all the tops out.

We sat down to eat, Jason prayed, and then asked where the rest of the burgers were. I had no idea what he meant until he started looking at the bottoms of the burgers and realized they were all burger bottoms. He asked me where the tops were, and I told him the trashcan. He started laughing and was suddenly a lot less stressed. We started eating, all four of us liked the meal, and I knew it was a keeper. And I would need to be ok with laughing at the situation!

Proverbs 11:2 When pride comes, then comes disgrace, but with humility comes wisdom.
