It is in our nature as humans to name things. My husband reminded me of this when he came up with the perfect names for our daughters; he said it was his responsibility because naming the animals was the job God gave Adam before sin entered the world.

My youngest daughter’s friends freaked out when I had their names in my GPS when I dropped them off after a day at the beach. They didn’t know that I had added them as contacts because they were lousy at giving directions, just thought Google knew who they were. Then I think they were pleasantly surprised that I considered them important enough in my life to add them to my phone.

So what does God say my name is? I am His daughter, a title based on a relationship, just like my daughter’s friends have a place in my phone and my life.

God desires that I know Him and spend time with Him. He gives us lots of names to call Him, names meant to remind us of who He is, and names meant to remind us of our relationship with Him. Spend some time meditating on God’s names today, compiled from BlueLetterBible.org

1 John 3:1 NIV
See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him.
