As I was driving to work after the weekend snow, everything looked dead except the evergreens, which stood out like lighthouse beacons among all the dead-looking trees, fields and beach grasses. They don’t stand out in the summer when everything is good, but in the snows and storms when everything else is sleeping or dead. Only they are flourishing. God reminded me that this is what I am meant to be; life among all the dead things of the world, an oasis, a conundrum to make people ask why? How are you able to have life here? Can you tell me how I can have life too? That’s really all there is to the Christian life.
Mark 13:35-36 NIV
[35] “Therefore keep watch because you do not know when the owner of the house will come back—whether in the evening, or at midnight, or when the rooster crows, or at dawn. [36] If he comes suddenly, do not let him find you sleeping.
