This year the part of Christmas that stood out to me the most is usually my least favorite – putting everything away. Although it does make our small home less cluttered, it also makes it have less light, joy and anticipation.
This year, however, it took little time and effort because our girls helped so well. In some ways they are adults already, and it confirmed to my husband and I that we really are starting to enter a new season.
Our girls still need us and want us, and we haven’t emptied our nest yet, but it is also ok to dust off the dreams that God is reawakening in us, to consider again what tasks God has for us and to put some time and energy into pursuing them.
The box that has been sitting on the shelf that is titled ‘I can’t right now’ is starting to open just a bit, with glimpses of what might be the next adventure inside.
I have to tell you that one thing God has been teaching me is that if my life as a Christian is boring, I am not doing it right. God is like Gandolf in The Hobbit, looking for someone to go on an adventure, and He is trustworthy to guide us along His path.
Take a moment right now and ask Him what His next adventure for you is, and then get your spiritual armor polished up and fastened securely!
