Happy Wednesday! I am making progress on Around the World in 80 Books. I finished Subterranean by James Rollins from Antarctica. It was an intriguing book, not my favorite genre but I did need to know how it ended.

I have moved on to Australia with The Secret River by Kate Greenville. I am about halfway through this historical fiction book and need to know how this one ends as well. Definitely a book that makes you cheer for the underdog.

What are you reading? Do you have any recommendations for my literary trip around the world?

I’ve finished The Book of the Dun Cow along with a 36 page teacher’s guide. The process has made me feel like my IQ has lowered over the years. Maybe this just wasn’t the right book for me. My book club will be discussing it this week. Then I will write a review and head back to a mystery next.

I have heard of that book but haven’t read it.

Several in my book club were enthusiastic about the suggestion, but the follow through was minimal. It’s really different–caught in the middle between an allegory and…maybe a fable? I’m still pondering.
