This was my husband and I 22 years ago. So young! So excited to work! We joined hands to follow God’s work and will for our lives. Over the years, the plow has changed. The look of the field in front of us has changed. Sometimes we have had the same work, and sometimes we each have our own work. We have always worked together when it comes to our girls and what the future holds. These days we are often tired from keeping our hand to the plow, but each time we look back, we see too much evidence of God’s faithfulness to not keep going. We are tired and ready for a winter of rest, but God gives us the strength for each day.
These verses are talking about delayed obedience, knowing what God’s will is but making excuses to delay doing it. As my husband seeks out what God has for him next, we don’t want to be disobedient.
What has God asked you to obey?
Luke 9:61-62 ESV
[61] Yet another said, “I will follow you, Lord, but let me first say farewell to those at my home.” [62] Jesus said to him, “No one who puts his hand to the plow and looks back is fit for the kingdom of God.”
