I finished my literary trek through Cambodia and am now reading A Golden Age by Tahmima Anam from Bangladesh. This novel is inspired by the true stories of the Bangladesh Liberation War in 1971, including the personal experiences of the author’s own family.

The main character, Rehana, is based on Anam’s grandmother, who famously harbored freedom fighters and hid weapons in her garden. She is a widow with two young adult children who are trying to find their place in the fight.

I am halfway through and it is quite the adventure!

What are you reading? What should I read next for my 80 books around the world?
