I finished my China book, Snow Flower and the Secret Fan, which is a historical novel that explains the full horror of foot binding. It is quite a read.
I am now in the Congo, with the novel The Poisonwood Bible by Barbara Kingsolver. It is a discouraging book for this former missionary to read, but it is not without its points. I am almost halfway through, at the point in history where this country claims its independence from Belgium.
My journey is continuing to help me understand the world a little better. What are you reading? What country should I read from next?
