Button Books!

I love buttons and I love books, so why not? I try to find another $5 worth of buttons every time I go to an antique store, so I had lots of ‘covers’ to choose from. I wanted my covers to match, but they wouldn’t have to.

I traced a button onto a piece of thinner cardstock, then cut a strip across the top of the cardstock approximately the right size. I folded the ‘pages’ in accordion-style and hot-glued each end to a button, then trimmed the pages to fit well. This particular ‘book’ has room for 16 pages, counting the backs of the pages when you flip the book over.

I chose to write my favorite Bible verses on each page. You could also draw on each page, write someone to pray for, embroider something tiny, multiplication facts, so many possibilities!

Do you collect buttons? What would you put in your button book? What are your favorite Bible verses?

These are the verses I picked in case you were curious:

Psalms 46:10 NIV He says, “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.”

2 Thessalonians 3:5 NIV May the Lord direct your hearts into God’s love and Christ’s perseverance.

1 John 5:11 NIV And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.

for my law enforcement spouse: Romans 13:4 NIV For the one in authority is God’s servant for your good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, for rulers do not bear the sword for no reason. They are God’s servants, agents of wrath to bring punishment on the wrongdoer.

Psalms 66:16 NIV Come and hear, all you who fear God; let me tell you what he has done for me.

Revelation 5:13 NIV Then I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and on the sea, and all that is in them, saying: “To him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb be praise and honor and glory and power, for ever and ever!”

Psalms 119:105 NIV Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.

Exodus 14:14 NIV The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.”

John 8:12 NIV When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”

Revelation 21:23 NIV The city does not need the sun or the moon to shine on it, for the glory of God gives it light, and the Lamb is its lamp.

Psalms 27:1 NIV  The Lord is my light and my salvation— whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life— of whom shall I be afraid?

Psalms 91:1-2 NIV [1] Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. [2] I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.”

1 John 1:5 NIV This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light; in him there is no darkness at all.

Psalms 90:12 NIV Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.

Isaiah 40:11 NIV He tends his flock like a shepherd: He gathers the lambs in his arms and carries them close to his heart; he gently leads those that have young.

Proverbs 31:25 NIV She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come.
