Hello everyone! I got into a bit of a nerdy word study this week, and I hope you like it.
I never noticed before that this word has the word ‘gently’ in it.
Proverbs 8:17 ESV
I love those who love me, and those who seek me diligently find me.
“in a way that shows care and conscientiousness in one’s work or duties” is the definition from Oxford languages.
“characterized by steady, earnest, and energetic effort : painstaking” is from Miriam-Webster.com
The Bible Hub says the term “diligently” refers to a careful and persistent effort to accomplish a task or fulfill a duty. In a biblical context, it often implies a wholehearted commitment to seeking God, obeying His commandments, and living according to His will. The Hebrew and Greek words translated as “diligently” in the Bible convey a sense of earnestness, zeal, and attentiveness.
The concept of diligence is woven throughout Scripture, emphasizing the importance of earnestness in spiritual and practical matters. It is often associated with seeking God, obeying His laws, and performing one’s duties with integrity and perseverance.
I love that a concept like ‘gently’ can be so powerful in God’s Kingdom! What do you think?
