Dear fellow readers, I traveled to England with the book Pearl by Sian Hughes. It was a very realistic story of a teenage girl dealing with mental illness in her family and trying to heal her own trauma. It is definitely not a ‘feel-good’ book but it does end with hope and celebrating the parent who continued to do the best he could year in and year out for his children.
I have read 8 books now that I haven’t read before, from genres that I don’t normally read, so I thought I would make my next stop Canada, with a book that is a bit like coming home, Anne of Green Gables, by L.M. Montgomery. This is the first book in a series of 8, and they are all wonderful, with the last one making me cry every time!
Other books that are like coming home for me are Little Women, The Little House books, The Hobbit, and The Lord of the Rings trilogy.
What books are like coming home for you? Where should I go next on my literary travel? What are you reading?
