I often equate courage with doing something visible—speaking, fixing, stepping in. But there’s a quieter kind of courage that’s just as real… the willingness to be still, to listen, and to let God speak before I do.
What stood out to me is that listening, truly listening, requires humility. It means setting aside my own reactions, my need to respond quickly, even my own understanding, and making space for something deeper. Scripture echoes that gentle strength: “Be still, and know that I am God” (Psalm 46:10). There’s a kind of courage in trusting that I don’t have to fill every silence… that God is working even there.
It’s also been a reminder in my walk with others. Sometimes the most Christlike thing I can do is simply listen with care, to understand, and to respond from a place that’s been quieted first.
So the wisdom I’m holding onto this week is that courage isn’t always loud. Sometimes it looks like a surrendered heart, willing to pause, and hear.
Beautiful, thank you!
