I am plugging along through my literary journey to India with the novel The Suitable Boy. I am about a quarter of the way through this large but intriguing novel that follows three families during the 1950’s. Here are some of the best quotes.
“God save us from people who mean well.”
“Man without life companion is either god or beast.”
“Of course, the greater one’s need, the greater one’s propensity to be mesmerized.”
“And an equation is the same whether it’s written in red or green ink.”
“The ifs and buts of history…form an insubstantial if intoxicating diet.”
What are you reading? Where should I go next on my 80 Books Around the World journey?
