It has begun! I completed my quilt sandwich as best I could and I have begun hand quilting.

We have a road trip coming up and I didn’t want to take the whole quilt with me in the summer heat, so I traced my quilt label to hand embroidery in the car. I am committed to finishing it this year now! According to Google, July 6th is halfway through the year, so I think I can do it.

I got the pattern from the book Embroidered Country Gardens by Lorna Bateman. The pattern includes robins, so that seemed appropriate for my first quilt label 😊

I didn’t trust free handing the letters, so I printed it out and traced both patterns on using my super cheap light board. I copied the page out of Embroidered Country Gardens so I could trace it as well. I used some of my leftover grey fabric from my quilt top and will embroider it with grey thread so it will wash the same as the rest of the quilt and blend in.

What are you all making? What suggestions do you have for my project? How should I bind my quilt? How do you craft while traveling?

It’s looking beautiful. I’m not very good at sewing but I enjoy knitting and crocheting beanies which the church collects for the poorer communities
