Bedside Books

The book The Name of the Rose by Italian Umberto Ecowas not my favorite, pretty cynical, but it does have a great description of writing historical fiction craft in the prologue. Great advice! And it did keep me guessing until the end. It is a satire on monastery life in the Middle Ages.

My next stop on my 80 books around the world is Mexico with Like Water for Chocolate by Laura Esquirel. I have just started this book and I already love the recipes at the beginning of each chapter. Unlike lots of books with recipes, these recipes seem to be more in reach for someone like me, who is less than a gourmet cook.

    Hi Robyn! I’m reading nonfiction this summer. Just finishing up Co-Intelligence by Ethan Mollick. It’s all about the future of AI. Before that I read Jennifer’s Way by Jennifer Epospito. It’s a memoir about her journey with Celiac, which I have too. I think you should go to the Shetland Islands by reading Storm Pegs: A Life Made in Shetland” by Jen Hadfield. It was an amazing adventure and I keep thinking of her descriptions. She’s a poet and her writing is very lyrical.
