I am currently reading A Grain of Wheat by Kenyan author Ngũgĩ wa Thiong’o. This novel is set during the state of emergency in Kenya’s struggle for independence, from 1952–59. It follows a character with a secret from his time in a detention center. I am still waiting to find out if anyone discovers his secret.

My next book will be Storm Pegs: A Life Made in Shetland, by Jen Hadfield, which I was only able to find as an audio book through my library. I do really still love to hold an actual book, but I am doing the best I can.

Have you read either of these books? What are you reading? Where should I go next in my literary journey?
