Well, crafting and everything else, including my daughters’ first day of school got put on hold when northwest Indiana experienced a deracho. If you don’t know what that is, I didn’t know either, until we had one. Basically it is a hurricane without the ocean. We had between 70-100 mile an hour straight line winds, and it uprooted at least one tree in almost everyone’s yard in my area. We were blessed to only have a back fence and a shed destroyed, with minimal house damage and no vehicle damage.

We are on day 4 of no power, and will likely have 6 more days to go. I am hoping to do some laundry today at the next town over, and will return to work at my church on Sunday, which got power back yesterday morning.

I have never experienced anything like this, and I am grateful my family is ok and there was only one person killed in our area.

I did get one and a half rows quilted on my quilt, and had time to play all kinds of games with my family. We are thankful it isn’t too hot or too cold, and we have a little generator to keep our sanity in check. The best thing that was created all week were some pancakes my oldest daughter made from a Little House cookbook on our gas stove top by oil lamp!
