I am in Australia on my literary journey with the novel The Light Between Oceans by M. L. Stedman. I have just started it, but according to Google, leaving out any spoilers, it is:

“Setting: Janus Rock, a remote and isolated island off the coast of Australia, in the years following World War I (starting around 1926). The Protagonists: Tom Sherbourne, a scarred war veteran turned meticulous lighthouse keeper, and his loving wife, Isabel. The Conflict: After suffering heartbreaking miscarriages and a stillbirth, Isabel hears a baby crying on the wind. A small boat washes ashore carrying a dead man and a living infant. The Choice: While Tom wants to follow protocol and report the tragedy immediately, Isabel convinces him to keep and raise the baby, naming her Lucy.”

I really liked the novel The Luminaries but I wished that more of the plot line had been resolved at the end. It is a large book and held my interest until the end.
