I had a great time finishing the felt book keychain for my daughter! Here is the wonderful tutorial I used if you want to make one too: https://www.theyellowbirdhouse.com/diy-embroidered-felt-book-bag-charm/?utm_source=Pinterest&utm_medium=organic

Things I would do differently:

  1. I did not have any stabilizer
  2. I would have sewn the ribbon onto the cover before I attached the spine.
  3. I would have sewn the inside cover fabric onto the cover.
  4. Ditto for the fabric on the outside of the pages.

Now I need ideas for what to sew or write on the ‘pages.’ Any ideas? What are you making?

Cute! Isn’t it amazing how once we have done something, we realize how we could do the same thing again, better and faster? Maybe write the name of her favorite book inside???

That is absolutely precious! And knowing how tiny it is makes the detail even more impressive. I’m looking at those delicate little flowers and stitches and thinking my fingers would have tied themselves together somewhere around stitch number three. There is something especially lovely about handmade gifts like this, though. You aren’t simply giving your daughter a little book keychain—you’ve tucked your time, patience, and a bit of yourself into something small enough for her to carry wherever she goes. Beautiful work!

This looks great even with all the things you would do differently! I’m making nothing? Time to pull the yarn, crochet and knitting needles out, soon as it cools off!

The idea of sewing the ribbon onto the cover before attaching the spine is a smart fix. I always find that securing loose elements first prevents a lot of frustration later. For the pages, you could try using thin felt strips in different colors to represent bookmarks or even simple embroidered symbols like stars or hearts. It adds texture without needing heavy stabilizer. I am a big fan of small, tactile projects like this because they keep the hands busy and the mind quiet. It is a nice way to slow down. I hope your daughter loves it when it is finished. The little details you mentioned about the inside cover fabric make it sound like a really thoughtful gift.
