I finished reading Earth Weeps Saturn Laughs by Abdulaziz Al Farsithis. This book is an interesting style, with each chapter narrated by a different character, but I found it jarring. It read more like an anthology than a story. I do most of my reading at bedtime and it was too confusing for my tired brain. It is not my new favorite.

I just started Half of a Yellow Sun, a 2006 historical novel by Nigerian author Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie.

According to Google, it “explores the human toll of the Nigerian Civil War. Plot and Setting: 1960s Nigeria, moving from peaceful university towns to the horrors of the war zone. Historical Event: The bloody struggle to establish the independent Republic of Biafra (1967–1970). Core Themes: Colonialism, ethnic loyalties, social class, and how war disrupts human relationships.”

It is interesting so far, although it has some scenes I could do without. Just over one quarter of the way in, I am invested in the characters.
