It’s funny seeing this today because one of my constant prayers is, “Lord, use me where I am.” There was a time when I think I associated being greatly used by God with going somewhere—some mission field, some ministry, some place where the need was obvious. But I’m learning that the mission field begins wherever God has planted our feet—or, in my case, parked my wheels.

Sometimes our circumstances determine our geography, but they never have to determine our usefulness. A prayer can travel where I cannot. A word of encouragement can cross an ocean while I remain at home. A testimony can reach someone I will never meet this side of heaven. God has never been limited by the location of the person willing to be used by Him.

I especially appreciate your reminder that willingness is really the issue. Whether God says “Go” or “Stay,” the surrendered answer is the same: “Here am I; send me” (Isaiah 6:8). Sometimes “send me” means across the world, and sometimes it means across the room, across the internet, or into the life of the one person God places before us today. The important thing is that wherever He puts us, we are all in.
